Dr Carolyn Axtell

Carolyn Axtell is a Senior Lecturer at the Institute of Work Psychology within the University of Sheffield Management School. Her research interests are in the areas of mobile and virtual work, and also the area of employee wellbeing.

She has led a range of research projects within applied settings, examining the impact of new technologies and new ways of working on employees.

She is keen to explore the potential that organisational data (and Big Data) might have for identifying wellbeing risks associated with work.

Professor Stephen Pinfield

Stephen Pinfield is Professor of Information Services Management in the Information School at the University of Sheffield. His research interests focus on scholarly communication, digital information resources management, and information-related policies in organisations.

Much of this has to date concentrated on applied areas, stemming from his professional background as an Chief Information Officer before moving into an academic role. He is therefore familiar with the challenges of managing data in organisations and is keen to play a role in helping them improve data and information management and use to enable organisational development.

Dr Christine Sprigg

Christine Sprigg is a Lecturer in Occupational Psychology at the Institute of Work Psychology within the University of Sheffield Management School. Her research interests are in the areas of work-related bullying, incivility and cyberbullying, and also the area of employee workplace well being in general.

Christine has worked on, and led a range of research projects within applied settings whilst working for both the University of Sheffield and HSE. She is now keen to explore the potential that organisational data (and Big Data) might have for identifying well being risks associated with work.

Professor Bridgette Wessels

Bridgette Wessels is a Professor in the Sociology of Inequalities Politics and Sociology at the University of Glasgow. She has extensive research experience in the area of digital communication in a wide range of areas, such as telehealth, e-services, and digital communication in everyday life. She is addressing the developing uses of open and big data in open services and data-driven science. These foci explore the methodological challenges of working with big data in meaningful ways.

She has written six books and numerous articles and has received funding from the research councils in the UK as well as European funding. She has been on advisory boards for the EU, UK government, the Association of South East Asia nations, and the Consumer Action Network, Australia, and the EU e-Forum Privacy Group.

Dr Mark Taylor

Dr Mark Taylor is Deputy Director of HeLEX@Melbourne, University of Melbourne. He specialises in health information law, privacy and legal and ethical conceptions of the public interest. He is a mid-career Fellow of the British Academy and Chair of the Confidentiality Advisory Group (for the Health Research Authority).

He has an interest in the proper governance of health information and regulatory opportunities to promote the use of data for the public good alongside robust privacy protection.
